Frequently Asked Questions
How does the IVF due date calculation work?
In natural pregnancy, gestational age is based on the last menstrual period (LMP). In IVF, the exact embryo age is known. We add 261 days for Day 5 embryos, and 263 days for Day 3 embryos from the transfer date to determine the EDD (standard 280-day gestational timeline).
What is the fertile window?
The fertile window represents the 6 days ending on the day of ovulation, where conception is biologically possible due to sperm lifespan (up to 5 days) and egg lifespan (12-24 hours).
Can my cycle length vary?
Yes, normal cycles range from 21 to 35 days. Standard calculations assume a stable luteal phase, but physical stress or hormonal shifts can delay ovulation.
