How AP Scores Are Calculated
AP scores are not based on simple percentages. The College Board computes a composite score by multiplying your raw correct answers in Section I (Multiple Choice) and Section II (Free Response) by subject-specific weighting coefficients. This total composite score is then mapped into a 1–5 grade using cutoffs that fluctuate slightly each year to normalize test difficulty (equating).

- MCQ: Raw score (0 - 45) multiplied by 1.2000
- FRQ: Raw score (0 - 54) multiplied by 1.0000
- Composite score upper limit is 108 points.
